Dancing and Music

I love music and I love to dance.  In Colombia music and dancing are a part of life.  I grew up in a Colombian family that truly loves both.  Whenever we get together we always play music whether it’s a birthday party or a holiday.  Once music is playing we can’t help but dance.  My favorite dance has to be salsa or cumbia.   I learned to dance salsa from my mom when I was a little girl.  We would dance around the house listening to music.  When I was in middle school I used to go with my cousin to see her and her friend in salsa competitions.  Since music was instilled in me from such a young age it is a part of my life now.  When I wake up I always put on the radio or my iPod.  In the car the first thing I do is turn on the radio.  I can’t imagine myself driving without music.  In coming to the United States I started to listen to different types of music.  Earlier this year I was able to go to an Aventura concert.  Aventura is a musical group that plays bachata music.  I had one of the best times there.  I found myself dancing right at my seat.  For me music and dancing is a way of expressing a wide variety of feelings and makes me who I am.

  1. I love both of these things too but I do not know if I wanna show anyone how I can dance or sing. It would be more embarrassing than anything else!

  2. I used to be the Thai dancer for my school. I never dance in other step. I used to study a class of step but never try in modern step. A few year ago, I started to join a gym. Then I had a chance to try hip hop, and jazz. I'm so in love with it but now I don't have time to go it anymore.

  3. As colombian people we enjoy the same kind of music, but mostly, we enjoy the rythm that comes from the instruments and make us feel free and relax. Remember we have to do anything with Ingrid!
